Sad to say, looking young does not come cheap, as facelift surgeries are often offered for an approximate price of $5,000 to $15,000. The reason why facelifts cost so much is because of the extensive facial reconstruction that comes with the procedure. An incision is first made into various locations of the face, and some injections or fillers are added to give the facial tissue added volume. These fillers also have an effect of rising up sunken and dull skin, along with smoothing out of wrinkles. Finally, the facial muscles, namely the buccinator ms. and the masseter ms., are both stretched up to make the underlying facial tissue much younger.
Give Your Face a Lift for $25: Facelift Bungee
A new invention, though, plans to relieve people of this costly ache, at least temporarily. A staggering $25 is said to have the same effect that a facelift. This new product is called the “Facelift Bungee.” It was conceptualized by Kimberly Aschauer, who said that she got the brainstorm for her product when she was supposed to get a facelift before she was going to attend her son’s wedding day. Mrs. Aschauer detailed exactly how she invented the precursor to what would become a revolutionary and budget-saving alternative to facelifts. She started by hooking a piece of rubber band in the middle of two little hair combs, and latched these combs to braids located at either sides of her head. Automatically, as the hairs on her head were pulled by the combs, so did most of her facial tissue. Upon looking at a mirror in her bathroom, she says that she looked like a decade was taken away from her face.
Mrs. Aschauer then began to refine the rather crude technology that made up her invention. She started looking for better elastic material, ones that proved to be more robust and stretchable. If she wanted her product to take off, she would need to find bands that would not easily break just after a few uses. She then started to look for metal substitutes to the combs she used to hook the bands. She needed her substitutes to be non-dangerous and easily concealable. Then she decided to look for something to take the place of her actual braids, since she couldn’t depend on the chance that all of her possible consumers having braid to attach the comb-elastic device on. Again, she needed this something to be inconspicuous and would not hurt the buyer, and something that should withstand multiple uses before it actually breaks.
Finally, a salon owner Anne Gaudrea, bought and tested Mrs. Aschauer’s new Facelift Bungee product and was happy with the results. Gaudrea said that the way the bungee pulls and stretches the skin near her temples without hurting is a very innovative way of getting the results of a facelift, sans the price. She said that she is happy for Mrs. Aschauer, and hopes that she continues inventing more things to circumvent the expensive process that is getting a cosmetic procedure done on you. She said that to maximize the results, she uses it every day, just after having a sip of her morning coffee. Mrs. Aschauer said that the Facelift Bungee is available in local stores, which is sold in containers that look like moisturizing cream canisters. She says that the venture is extremely low-budget, and she hopes that there will come a time when her products are appreciated by a bigger audience.
